I am now in Patna, India.

School Story:

I have been a Marianist since 1963 and after 25 years at Chaminade and at Vincent Gray Alternative High School in East St. Louis, Illinois, I asked to go to Mexico. Being there for 22 years has been one of the greatest graces I have received. At the present time I am in Patna, India, teaching English at Chaminade Training Institute.

I remember very fondly my first contact with the Marianists. It was an orientation, more or less in the spring of 1958 in Room 213 with Bro. Vincent Gray. I was impressed! Later we went to the gym for another orientation session and remember already feeling the McBride spirit there.

Larry - because of your note about Jim Abell's passing, I was able to share with my first cousin and your classmate, Jack Schneidermeier - remember him. Jack is doing ok in spite of having a serious stroke about 6 years ago. Avid Cards fan - wife and son Dan even get him to Busch Stadius (if that is what it is still called). They even visited New Orleans and we were able to host them for a fine dinner in the French Quarter and an afternoon at the major WWII Museum here. Happy birthday on the 16th - w
wife Kathe and I fly to London on Wed the 12th for 16 days, seeing a niece, new great-niece, York, Stonehenge, Edinburgh, and more. Never have visited an English-speaking country. Take care, my friend and Brother - just talked to Mike Bober last week about his ministry up in Oshkosh WI. We just finished my 4th season singing baritone for Symphony Chorus of New Orleans - some of this music I learned at 18 in Marynook Novitiate.

I remember Greg as a happy, jovial, optimistic person.  I am sure he continued to be this wonderful person throughout his life.  We were together at McBride, H.S. from 1958-1962.  I am grateful for those years and very happy to have learned from him.  God bless him and his family.

I remember Jim as a friendly, hardworking, independent fellow student at McBride H.S. in St. Louis.  We were classmates from 1958-62.  I am sure he is continuing to be in the next life who he was here in this life:  a good man an friend.

Dear Jack, Happy Birthday! I'm early in my expressions of joy and happiness for you! Thanks for being in my life! I pray for you every day, thanking God for the four years and for your continued presence. Rick Weiersmueller mentioned the other day that you and he and Ray ate Chinese and that Rick had brought maple syrup for something or other. I love him too! I know you will celebrate your birthday in grand style....perhaps meditatively...and I will be with you on that day in prayer, as I am with you every day in prayer. God bless you. I send my love and a hug!

Dear Joe, I wish you an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY! E mail in India is not a sure thing, so I am sending my greetings and best wishes early. I pray for you each day and am very thankful for those four years we shared...many years ago. As the years pass, I understand a little better how important it was to have such good friends in high school--good people, good companions, good examples to follow! Thanks! I will continue to pray for you, Joe. Celebrate your wonderful life always, but especially on the 10th. With lots of love, prayer, and a hug!

Dear Gene, I am writing to you, not about you.  I know you are listening.  We went to St Pius X grade school in Glasgow Village together.  We had Sr. Anselm as our teacher for grades 6-8.  She was, I think responsible for the fact that severn of our class went to McBride.  You and I  used to play "horse" together and you were uncanny in your ridiculous shots.  You usually beat me.  We played poker together on Friday nights..you usually won!  You were, and still are, a hero to me. You were simply a good, honest, comrade and friend.  I couldn't have asked for a better one as we both grew up together  I always admired your cool, dry humor.  I liked very much the way you approached life, accepting what came your way and deciding to do your best with it.  I miss you a lot, and I will be in touch with Angie.  See you sometime, maybe later maybe sooner!  I know you are happy!!! Thanks for being such a good mentor
