I am now in Patna, India.

School Story:

I have been a Marianist since 1963 and after 25 years at Chaminade and at Vincent Gray Alternative High School in East St. Louis, Illinois, I asked to go to Mexico. Being there for 22 years has been one of the greatest graces I have received. At the present time I am in Patna, India, teaching English at Chaminade Training Institute.

I remember very fondly my first contact with the Marianists. It was an orientation, more or less in the spring of 1958 in Room 213 with Bro. Vincent Gray. I was impressed! Later we went to the gym for another orientation session and remember already feeling the McBride spirit there.

Dear John, an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sometimes here in India, the internet service is iffy. That having been said, it's a wonderful place to be--wonderful people. I was with wonderful people from '58-62 also! ...I hope as you celebrate the big day, you are surrounded by people you love and by those who love you. I'm grateful for those four years with you and, especially now, for your continued presence in my life. God bless you, John!

Dear Larry, HAPPY BIRTHDAY...better early than late to send you my wishes for you. The wishes are that you feel loved and that you have many in your life to love! Thanks for the 4 years many years ago. They mean more and more as I get older and older! I am also sending a big hug and a promise to continue to pray for you! God bless you!

Dear Jer, better early than late! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! If you made the monthly Mick '62 get-together yesterday, then you probably already got some early HAPPY BIRTHDAYs! My comments each year are probably repetitive, but that just means I'm tell you the truth. Our 11 or so years together in Glasgow come back to me often. I was blessed to have you in my life as a good friend and companion. I am still blessed in that regard, though distances are geographically great and have been for some time. That fact just makes me more appreciative of the great times we had. Actually, I can't remember any "bad" times. Friendship and love are the things that mean most to me. Yours has meant and still means very much to me. God gives us gifts all the time. I am blessed to be able to recognize the gift you were and still are to me. I am sure you will celebrate number 75 in an outstanding manner. I will celebrate this great event by praying for your good health, happiness, and continued blessings on you Sheila and your two sons. I send my love and big, big hug!

Dear Bill, Happy Birthday! Better a few days early than a few days late. I hope your birthday is a celebration of life--a gift from your parents and God. It was a gift to me to be with you and the rest of the Micks for four years...many years ago. As I get older, I see how special and life-changing those years were for me...and I hope for you. I'll be praying for you on the sixth! I'm sending a hug and a big THANK YOU for being in my life!

Dear John, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Better a few days early than a few days late! From India, Ranchi, Jharkhand, I send you these greetings. I had been in Patna, Bihar, but recently was asked to come to our novitiate (like an ashram!) to teach English to young men who want to be Marianists. I'm happy to be here. Probably you and Jack Feeley understand India better than most of the Micks of '62, so you will know what I mean when i say that being here is a life-changer for me. It is obvious to me that you have changed a lot since our days at McBride. I admire you and go with you as you continue to explore and find the meaning of this wonderful gift of life--a gift you will celebrate on the 6th. I'll be praying for you on that day especially, John. I send my love and a big hug!

Dear Rich, I wish you an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I continue to pray for you, especially that your health be restored. Thanks, again, for the times we shared many years ago. My only regret is that I wish I had been more aware then of the great guys who were around me, helping, supporting, sharing, animating....but, it's never too late to thank you! So, THANKS, and I love you, sending a big hug your way!

Larry - because of your note about Jim Abell's passing, I was able to share with my first cousin and your classmate, Jack Schneidermeier - remember him. Jack is doing ok in spite of having a serious stroke about 6 years ago. Avid Cards fan - wife and son Dan even get him to Busch Stadius (if that is what it is still called). They even visited New Orleans and we were able to host them for a fine dinner in the French Quarter and an afternoon at the major WWII Museum here. Happy birthday on the 16th - w
wife Kathe and I fly to London on Wed the 12th for 16 days, seeing a niece, new great-niece, York, Stonehenge, Edinburgh, and more. Never have visited an English-speaking country. Take care, my friend and Brother - just talked to Mike Bober last week about his ministry up in Oshkosh WI. We just finished my 4th season singing baritone for Symphony Chorus of New Orleans - some of this music I learned at 18 in Marynook Novitiate.

I remember Greg as a happy, jovial, optimistic person.  I am sure he continued to be this wonderful person throughout his life.  We were together at McBride, H.S. from 1958-1962.  I am grateful for those years and very happy to have learned from him.  God bless him and his family.

I remember Jim as a friendly, hardworking, independent fellow student at McBride H.S. in St. Louis.  We were classmates from 1958-62.  I am sure he is continuing to be in the next life who he was here in this life:  a good man an friend.

Dear Jack, Happy Birthday! I'm early in my expressions of joy and happiness for you! Thanks for being in my life! I pray for you every day, thanking God for the four years and for your continued presence. Rick Weiersmueller mentioned the other day that you and he and Ray ate Chinese and that Rick had brought maple syrup for something or other. I love him too! I know you will celebrate your birthday in grand style....perhaps meditatively...and I will be with you on that day in prayer, as I am with you every day in prayer. God bless you. I send my love and a hug!
