Helped write Obama's speech at the Clinton Global Initiative Conference in September.--Update: She is now running a program linking police departments around the country with local universities in order to help departments improve oversight of the police and track police activity. For example the Oakland Police Department works with Stanford University. U. of Chicago works with a department in illinois, etc.

After graduating from college, I went for 2 years to Ethiopia in the Peace Corps. In 1968, I went to grad school where I earned a PhD and then joined the NSF in Washington DC as a Program Director. I did my best to give away your "hard earned tax-payer dollars" to support research grants.

I retired to the Big Island, Hawaii & San Francisco in 1996 with my partner. Since then, we've been married 3 times: March 2004 in SF and June 2004 in Massachusetts and finally one that stuck, July 2008 again in SF.

We've abandoned our Hawaii home and have recently purchased a small condo in Washington DC so that we can visit daughter Lynn and her family. Daughter Rebecca lives with her husband about 25 feet from us in SF. She's a jeweler exhibited in numerous stores in the US and East Asia.

living full time in San Francisco, but still visit DC a couple of times a year. Also still doing a fair amount of traveling--to Spain and to the Yucatan this year. We also visit friends in So. California frequently.

Fred, I am happy to see you are still pursuing your oceanography studies. Hope you are well. I am fine--hardly feel a day over 76! After the lockdowns from Covid, we are looking forward to some travel--a drive to LA to see friends and then in September a trip with friends who have never been to DC, We will also see family there. Thanks for updating your status!

Thank you Michael. I had been friends with Alan at McBride but we went our separate ways after graduation. When these class profiles became available I looked for what had happened to him and saw that he had died and later learned that he had been murdered. I did not know anything else about him since I had moved away from St. Louis in 1966 and haven't lived there since.  I am glad that you filled in the void in Alan's life story.  It is indeed sad what happened to him but it is good to know that his good friend remembered him and filled in that void.
