I was privileged to have Brother Al as my English teacher for three years at McBride High School in the early 60's.  He was a fantastic teacher who taught me how to write effectively, a skill that I utilized later on in college and grad school, my subsequent career with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and, afterwards,  in consultant work.  Brother Al also reinforced my love of literature and encouraged me to widen my reading.  Of all the great teachers I had at McBride, he stands out at the top.  Jim Scheffler, McBride H.S., 1962

Thank you for the birthday note! And, Happy Thanksgiving also.

I heard from Fred W of your travails in returning to the US. Glad you were able to make it back safely during these crazy times. Re India, we did not have Kay's traditional Diwali event this year. Had a small ceremony at home and did a lot of cooking with results distributed safely to the family members living in our area of Iowa. Thanksgiving will also be small, altho had a Zoom family event last evening. Have had several Covid instances in the family, but all have recovered ok, without hospitalization. Still awaiting test results from two high school grandsons.
