I live 15 minutes from Jerry Vaughan (class of 65). It's amazing since we've both lived in 3 different cities (not the same ones). After 40+ years we are in the same parish, but over 600 miles from McBride.
Eight people from the Class of 65 all worked at Southwestern Bell at the same time (in the 80's). The company paper had an article about it.
I'm on Facebook; I signed up to see pictures of my grandsons.
I contacted Fr. Rechtien in San Antonio about 30 years after I graduated from McBride. I would have lunch with him occasionally. The first time I met with him, I had to admit to a total misperception of his age. I told he had not aged in 30 years. As it turns out, he was only 11 years older than me. I considered him much older when he was my teacher.
Fr. Rechtien died of cancer at age 64.

I was in history class when they announced that Kennedy was shot (how appropriate). The teacher went right on with class after the announcement.

I benefitted greatly from the excellent education I received from the Brothers of Mary at McBride. Fr. Rechtien had 3 years to develop my writing skills, which have served me well at work and in some volunteer roles. The math education prepared me well for engineering school in college.
I also received a good background for my Catholic faith. I appreciated most of it. There were some aspects I didn’t appreciate until much later in life.
I am grateful for the opportunity I received at McBride.
