Jim and Jerry and I spent one or two nights a week rehearsing and every weekend together playing in the Shadows for three years. It was a great time for me playing with other Micks Neil Flynn, Dan Flynn, Denny Lawler, George Bunk, Denny Price and Frank DeGuire. It all started in the fall of sophomore year when Jim, Jerry and I were going home from school and sitting in the back of the northbound Kingshighway bus with our instrument cases ( Trumpet, Sax and Trombone) when Denny Lawler approached us us and asked us to attend a Shadows rehearsal because they were thinking about adding a horn section. The rehearsal went well considering that we all started in freshman band and had only been playing for a year. The core of the band sounded incredible with Neil on keyboards, Dan on bass, Jim Knight on guitar, Mark Rogers on drums and Denny Lawler singing. We were all young and not driving yet. Dan Flynn was in 7th grade, Neil eight grade, drummer Mark Rogers eighth grade and the rest were freshmen. We soon added George Bunk and Frank DeGuire to get a bigger horn sound. We learned songs by listening to the records and Jim Signaigo taught himself to write music charts for all the parts which in incredible since he had no formal training. RIP Jim, thanks for all the good times. Chuck
